We offer a full training course for business brokerage that includes a video training course and a manual. And after your training, we co-broker your deals right along with you until you’re ready to go it alone. Commission splits depend on experience and whether you get the lead on your own or we supply the lead.
Now that we have the BS sales pitch out of the way, let’s talk a little reality about the world of business brokering. For most agents your first paycheck will be anywhere from three to six months or more, depending on your efforts. Since this is a commission only business, you will have to find a way to pay your bills until that first paycheck. If your spouse makes great money, or you have money saved up, or a retirement check, then it’s easy. However, if you need money on a monthly basis right from the start, then don’t do this.
If you do have the ability to hold out, then the potential is for paychecks that range from $10,000 to $250,000 or more. Again, not to delude you with dreams of sitting on top mounds of cash in storage locker like in “Breaking Bad.” The reality is the bread and butter of this industry is the smaller, what’s called Main Street deals. You can expect $10,000 to $30,000 paychecks on a regular basis. And if you keep your pipe line filled with at least 10 listings year round, then you’ll make between $100,000 to $200,000 a year. If you get lucky, you might land one of those $250,000 single paydays. But like Captain Abab in Moby Dick, if you just chase that one whale, it’s likely to take you down.
